Tallis by Mincha on Shabbos

Question:
What is the mekor / reason for the universal minhag that an oileh la`Torah on Shabbos Minchah keeps the Talis on till after Kedushoh?

And does this minhag also apply on Taanessim?

Many thanks and kind regards,

Answer:

In fact this is not  universal minhag, rather minhag of shuls which follow German/Yekkish customs.

The source is unclear, more than just that – minhag. Some suggest that the minhag used to be to make a bracha on the tallis of the shul and as such only wearing it for the aliya would be questionable if this justifies a bracha, so it was left on until after kedusha. According to this, today when we do not make a bracha on the tallis of the kahal it would follow to remove the tallis immediately. However it would seem this conjecture is not sufficient to stop a time honored minhag, which may simply be for the honor of the davening.
