Video cameras on Shabbos

Question:
We are having video cameras installed all around the outside of our shul for safety reasons. Is it permissible to have them run 24/7 taking pictures/filming everyone who passes them? Would it be mutar to have them on a motion sensor to go on anytime someone passes by them?
Answer:

Securtiy cameras may be left on for the duration of Shabbos. As long as the people walking by have no intent to activate the cameras and have no interest in being recorded, they are just walking by or in and out of the shul, it may be left on either setting.
