Hashem’s Name in Zemiros Shabbos

Hashem’s Name in Zemiros Shabbos

Question:
Is it proper to say they Shem HaShem when singing Zemiros, or should “HaShem” be said instead?

Answer:

Whenever reciting a full pasuk, in Torah study, or Zemiros Shabbos, Hashem’s name may be recited. However many have the custom to say “Hashem” in place of the name of Hashem. In many instances this is recommendable, being that in the middle of Zemiros Shabbos many stop, interrupt to speak or eat etc.. If one is saying the name of Hashem they need to be careful to complete the passuk or sentence they are saying, so as not to say the name of Hashem in vain.
