Strawberries and checking for bugs

Question:
hello;

I would like to know what the rov holds regarding worms in strawberries and other fruits.

thanks

Answer:

Each fruit has to be treated according to its level of assumed infestation. Strawberries are known to have a relatively frequent instance of infestation. The green head should be chopped off along with a tiny amount of the berry. The fruit should be soaked in warm water with a little soap and agitated for a minute or so, then let to soak for another minute or so. The they should be looked over carefully in good light. Then they may be eaten. See the star-k website for additional information about the checking process for other fruits and vegetables.
