Chametz she’avar alav ha’Pesach

Question:
Shalom aleichem,

We have an adult son at the moment in the States, with a room in our home. We happened to be looking for something today in his clothes closet and found 3 cans of spray deodorant and a small, almost empty bottle of men’s cologne.

One can of deodorant (Right Guard Sport Fresh Scent, from Canada) does not list the ingredients. One can of deodorant (Right Guard Sport Original) lists denatured alcohol. One can of deodorant (Brut Classic Scent) lists the ingredients, but does not include alcohol.

Should any of spray deodorant or the cologne be treated as chametz she’avar alav ha’Pesach and disposed-of, or should we leave them for our son for when he returns?

Thanks very much for your help,

Answer:

They may be used after Pesach. There are varied opinions with regards to such product use on Pesach itself, with regards to Chamtz Shavar Alav Pesach one may be lenient. In addition it would be included in the sale of the chametz if he performed one.
